How can one person help to save our planet from destruction?

We as individuals might think that the action of one single person cannot make an impact in changing things, but that is not true. These separate acts add up, and they do help, sometimes more than you could think possible.
Did you know that it can take as many as 24 trees to make one ton of office paper? If we use less paper, more trees will be left standing. Deforestation not only causes mudslides, but loss of animal habitats too. Summer months can mean less rainfall, and water conservation might become necessary. Did you know that on an average, taking a bath will use 35-50 gallons of water, while taking a 10 minute shower will use 25 gallons? In some countries, bathing daily is a luxury not indulged in, as water is not plentiful. The following is a list of some of what one person can do to limit practices that lead to waste and unsustainability.

HOW TO HELP
SIMPLE THINGS WE CAN DO

SAVE OUR WATER.

  • Take more showers than baths.

  • Don't keep water running while you brush your teeth.

  • Always wash a full load in the washer.

  • Go to the car wash instead of hand washing your car.

  • Don't water your lawn or flowers at midday, do it in the early
morning - the water doesn't evaporate as quickly as it would when it's really hot, so the water gets a chance to saturate the earth properly.

HOW TO HELP
SIMPLE THINGS WE CAN DO

SAVE OUR TREES.

  • In your home office, save paper that you did not write
on, on both sides. Then use this as scratch paper, or paper kids can draw on.

  • Pay bills online
    Read news online.

  • View bank statements online.

  • Use e-tickets instead of paper tickets for travel.

  • Reuse gift paper and boxes.

  • Plant trees on your property, or in your community as a project.
